When you are new to an industry it is easy to get intimidated by all the information and guidelines that are out there. Especially when all you are looking for is a comprehensive guide to help you out as you are just starting out. 

So if you are new to construction and have just come in possession of heavy machinery and are not sure where to look for an easy guide, don’t worry we have got you covered. Following are a few type that will really help you out as a new user of heavy machinery. 

Training

People training is essential before you start working with heavy machinery. Even if you are not going to be working on a big project knowing how to safely use the equipment is important. It will allow you to work without any risk to your equipment and health and will ensure other’s safety. As the operator you will be spending a lot of time with the machine so its best that you know all there is about the equipment in question. 

Inspection of Equipment

Inspecting the equipment before and after the job us extremely important. You need to make sure that everything is intact and in order before you start working. With proper daily inspection you can prevent any incidents that might have otherwise occurred if you missed something.

It is also important that you check the equipment after use as well. So, if it turns out that there is any damage you can get ahead of it. 

Preventative Maintenance

It doesn’t matter how long you have been working with your equipment, if it’s pretty recent or you have had the loader for a while. If you don’t start maintaining it you will have to start looking for a new loader for sale as the life of the machine cuts short if it isn’t maintained properly. So, you have to make sure that you schedule maintenance for your equipment even before it shows signs of damage. 

 

Lubrication / Oil Changes

We have already established the importance of routine maintenance for construction equipment. These inspections also include ensuring that the equipment is properly lubricated. If that isn’t the case make sure to lubricate the loader before starting the machinery. Also make sure to check the filters and see if they need to be changed as well as if the machine requires oil changes. If you are working with used backhoe loaders you probably need to get the oil and air filters changed. If something like that is overlooked before you start operating, the machine. The equipment may end up breaking down mid job or it might cause long term damage to the machine. 

Engine / Parking brake

When you are turning the machine off make sure to check the engine’s coolant levels. As well as the machine’s transmission fluid level. Also make sure the parking brake is in order before you exit the machine. You don’t want to leave anything running overnight as it may end up damaging the equipment.
